Installing the "RTK Short Stroke" trigger in your PF-9




How to install













Unload your PF-9 Field Strip

Pry out bottom spring retainer and release spring into magazine well. a
Support stock.

Use punch, and gently tap out three plastic retaining pins.

The access hole will only be 3/32" diameter. Soon you will be drilling out your hole to 3/16" .
Support the frame well, and using a 3/32" punch, drive the barbed pin down and out.
Because of the barbs, it will not want to come out. You can try heating the plastic trigger with a heat gun to soften it.

Carefully drill out the 3/32" trigger pin access hole.

Use a 3/16" bit. You are drilling thin aluminum.

Assemble outside the frame to verify fit. Some pivot pins are out of tolerance on the large side.  This did not matter with the plastic trigger.
The pin may need to be gently sanded to fit new aluminum trigger.
If you have trouble inserting the retaining pin, make sure that you are pushing in on the spring, with tail at 5:00
Also check that the top set screw is not blocking the pin hole.

Spring must be pushed in as pin is inserted a

Pin inserted. If everything is aligned properly, pin should only need a gentle push to seat it.
Make sure trigger has full range of movement.
Notice that there are less coils of the spring showing with the pin seated, than three pictures above, without the spring. a
Install link-bar and tension the spring couterclockwise.

There is a little grove on the bottom of the link-bar that retains the tail of the spring.
The next two frames are out of sequence.
They show what you are going to do with the hammer block when the frame is partially inserted in the stock.
Get the screwdriver under it.
Lift and push forward.

You will then push down with the frame as you pull the screwdriver out.

You will not be able to see what you are doing.
With the frame in place and plastic pins partially inserted.
Make sure the trigger moves freely before driving the pins home. Sometimes the top set screw gets hung up on the frame.
